Essie B. Davenport Tenpenny

Essie B. Davenport Tenpenny, 93, passed away Sun., Nov. 24, 2013 following an extended illness.  A native of Cannon Co., She was the daughter of the late Luther & Martha King Davenport.

 

Funeral services will be 3 pm Tues., in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Patrick officiating.  Burial will follow in the Reed Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 2 pm until 8 pm Monday.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Assoc.

 

She is survived by her son, Lytle (Helen) Tenpenny of Woodbury; Grandson, Mark (Lisa) Tenpenny of Auburntown; Great Granddaughters, Abby (Colton) Tuck & Paige Tenpenny and great great grandson, Hunter Tuck.  Also surviving are special friends, Freda & James “Toonie” Cummings. 

 

A member of the Baptist church, she was retired from Armour Creamery and she was a school teacher in the early years of her career.  Essie B. worked many years as a volunteer in the American Cancer Society. 

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow Tenpenny; granddaughter, Melanie Tenpenny; Brothers, Paul and Smoot Davenport and Sisters, Susie Nichols, Daisy Bell, Dessie Odom & Mary Alexander.
