ESS 5th Grade 'Makes A Difference'

Earlier this year, schools across the county were challenged to collect aluminum tabs to help with treatment costs of a fellow elementary student who was taking chemotherapy for cancer. 

Many East Side atudents helped collect about four gallons of tabs; however, the 5th grade really rose to the challenge.

Students in Mrs. Karen Wimberley's class collected over 3 gallons by themselves, then turned the collection into a math project. They determined that they collected 14,471 tabs, more than the population of Cannon County.

The class has decided to extend this to a "Make a Difference" project in which they identify for the rest of the year things they do daily that make a difference for someone else.
