MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Sun Belt Conference announced today that ESPN has exercised its option to broadcast Middle Tennessee's home game against Mississippi State on Oct. 17. The network will nationally televise the out of conference battle on ESPNU and the game will be played at 11:30 AM CDT.

"With a national television audience and a possible sell out crowd this could be the biggest event in Murfreesboro since General (Douglas) MacArthur," said Director of Athletics Chris Massaro. "This is a wonderful statement for our program when ESPN exercises its option at this late date. I am excited to see all the breakfast tailgaters fixing their pancakes and eggs prior to the game."

The game was originally slated for 3 PM, however, through a 12-day rolling window (i.e., by the second Monday preceding each Saturday telecast date) ESPN may select Sun Belt Conference controlled games to air after the first three weeks of the season for inclusion on ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNU. This option was exercised by the network and will make the game with MSU the 11th nationally televised contest in school history and the ninth under Head Coach Rick Stockstill.

The Blue Raiders will play Troy on ESPN2 Tuesday night to give the program back-to-back national broadcasts for the first time in school history. The Middle Tennessee-Mississippi State game will also be shown on ESPN360, an internet-only broadcast.
