Elementary Girls: Woodbury Holds Off West Side

Woodbury Grammar built an early lead and then held off a furious rally to turn back West Side 30-26 Thursday (Dec. 2).
Emily Sissom led the charge for Woodbury with 11 points. Kaylee Hayes tallied seven points and Ashley McVay finished with six for the Lady Cubs.
Kendra Maynard’s 10 points led West Side (3-5). Woodbury led West Side 28-18 going into the fourth quarter before the Eagles used an 8-2 run to stage a strong comeback.
East Side 23
The Lady Knights (11-0) continued their outstanding season with a 56-23 win against East Side Thursday (Dec. 2). Erin McReynolds remained a constant with a whopping 27 points. Paige Tenpenny followed with 10 points, three rebounds and two steals. Auburn’s Kristen McReynolds tallied nine points and five rebounds.
Katie Hoskins led East Side with 10 points.
Short Mountain 17
Woodland (9-2) rolled to a 48-17 win against Short Mountain as Cydney McPeak poured in 20 points Thursday (Dec. 2). Ariana Kailiponi finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a strong effort for Woodland.
West Side 24
Erin McReynolds scored 16 and Paige Tenpenny added 10 to lead Auburn to a 45-24 win against West Side Monday (Nov. 29). Kristen McReynolds added nine points for Auburn. Erin McReynolds was close to a rare double double as she collected nine steals to go with five rebounds and an assist. Kristen McReynolds totaled five rebounds and three steals. Tenpenny added seven rebounds and four steals in a winning effort.
Kendra Maynard led West Side with eight points, and Mary Neall added six.
Cydney McPeak scored 12 points and pulled four rebounds to help Woodland to a 30-24 win against Woodbury Grammar. Ariana Kailiponi added eight points and eight rebounds for the Lady Warriors.
The game was close throughout with Woodland taking a 10-6 first-quarter advantage and holding on throughout. Woodland led 14-9 at intermission and clinged to a 17-15 advantage entering the final quarter.
