Elementary Boys: Auburn Tops West Side, Short Mountain

Auburn (9-2) continued to prove it will be a contender for the boy’s county championship as the Knights persist to improve with each outing.

The Knights enjoyed two wins last week, starting with a 50-33 win at West Side Monday. Auburn was led by Garrett McReynolds with 13 points, while Marshall McReynolds tallied nine, followed by Briar Jakes and Reagen Scott with eight.

Scott had a solid all-around game. In addition to his eight points, Scott also pulled 12 rebounds and blocked four shots. Auburn’s defense was a key in victory. The Knights had three steals each from Marshall McReynolds, Garrett McReynolds and Scott.

Jacob Nave continued to be one of the county’s top performers in a losing cause for West Side. Nave produced a double double with a team-high 12 points and 14 rebounds, while also collecting five steals and two assists. Jake Burdick added eight points for West Side, followed by Collin Anderson with six.

Woodland 75
Short Mountain 5
Fletcher Moore and Treyton Fann scored 12 points each as Woodland remained undefeated and powered past outmanned Short Mountain, 75-5. The Warriors improved to 10-0 with the win.

Fann had a double double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, while also supplying four assists, and Moore narrowly missed duplicating the feat. He had eight rebounds for Woodland. Austin Spry and Austin Martin scored eight each for the Warriors, and Jared Judkins and Bailey Hale scored six each.
Auburn 58
Short Mountain 28
Auburn jumped out to a 37-12 halftime lead and never looked back on the way to a 58-28 win against East Side. Briar Jakes led Auburn with 20 points and Marshall McReynolds poured in 14. Garrett McReynolds finished with eight points and 13 rebounds. Reagen Scott added 12 caroms as Auburn dominated the boards.

Woodland 46
Woodbury 13
Woodland used a balanced scoring attack to roll to a 46-13 win against Woodbury Grammar Monday (Nov. 29). Bo Bryson and Jackson Mason each scored eight and added four rebounds to help lead the Warriors. A.J. Daniel finished with seven points.

West Side 46
Woodbury 23
West Side (6-5) Jake Burdick and Jacob Nave each scored 12 points to lead West Side to a 46-23 win against Woodbury Grammar Thursday (Dec. 2).

Sam Sissom and Courtland Ryan added five points in a winning effort.
Woodbury Grammar was led by Chandler Todd’s 15 points.
