Election Commission Reappoints Administrator

The Cannon County Election Commission met Monday night for an organizational meeting to appoint officers for the next two years.

Stan Dobson was reappointed to the position of Administrator of Elections.

Also, Lindburgh Dennis was reappointed as Chairman of the Election Commission and Sue Patrick will continue in the role of Secretary.

in other business the commissioners:

• Reviewed the proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which beings July 1. Because of uncertainty over whether the election office will need to relocate to new quarters to comply with state regulations, and whether the Tennessee General Assembly will vote to require new paper ballot voting machines, the commissioners decided to delay approving the budget until its next meeting in June.

As of now the proposed budget is roughly $194,500. The current year's budget is around $155,000. Dobson said the office will not spend all of the allotted money for this year.

• Approved a motion to have the minutes of meetings submitted within 10 days to the administrator.

The Commission will not meet in May. They scheduled their next meeting for June 13.
