Ms. Elaine Alexander Martin, 66, a native of Cannon County died on September 6, 2015. She was born on June 14, 1949. Her parents were the late Jake Alexander and Mildred Finley Alexander. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Marlene Taylor and Jessie Burr Little Jackson.

She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (Jeff Cawthon) Hibdon of Milton; son, Jamie (Jill) Martin of Grove City, Ohio; brothers, Buddy Alexander of Woodbury and Gerry Alexander of Hillsboro; sisters, Lillian Alexander of Woodbury and Mary Dale (Buddy) Clark of LaVergne ; a granddaughter, Della Laine Martin and close friends, Joyce Burns, Anita Cantrell and Rhonda Roberts.

Mrs. Martin grew up in Cannon County in a large close knit family. She later lived in McMinnville for many years. She moved from McMinnville and worked for Community Care of Rutherford County for a long time. She was a member of the Dillon Street Baptist Church. Mrs. Martin enjoyed traveling. Two of her favorite places were Gatlinburg and Florida. She liked listening to country music. Her family enjoyed her cooking, especially, the oatmeal cookies. Her granddaughter was her pride and joy. She spent all the time she could with her.

Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, September 20, 2015 from 2-4 pm. Memorial services will follow in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Her son, Jamie Martin, will share memories and stories from family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to two local charities, S.A.V.E. Program or Woodbury Church of Christ Outreach Center. Donations may be made by contacting Smith Funeral Home.
