Friday, May 10, 1:00 PM - Pontoon boat ride with park manager: Meet the Park Manager, Carl Halfacre, at the Courtesy Dock (past the cabins) for a relaxing tour of Center Hill Lake by pontoon boat. Saturday, May 11, 8:00 PM - Scorpion Hunt: Did you know that we have scorpions in Tennessee? Join the Park Ranger for a nighttime expedition to find scorpions by black light. Meet at the first picnic area at the boat ramp entrance (look for Ranger vehicle).

Sunday, May 12, 2:00 PM - Mother’s Day Pontoon Boat Ride - Treat your Mother to a refreshing ride on the lake! Meet the Park Ranger at the Courtesy Dock. Limit 12 people. Saturday, May 18, 2:00 PM - Snakes! at Edgar Evins State Park: Meet the Park Ranger at the Fire Circle for a fun and informative presentation about our local snake species. Afterwards you will get the chance to pet a live snake!

Sunday, May 19, 9:00 AM Nature hike - Join Ranger Taylor for a guided hike on our beautiful and diverse Millennium Trail. Along the way we will observe wildflowers, trees and multiple wildlife species, as well as discuss the rich history of the area. Approximately 2.5 miles. Meet at the Millennium Trail parking area. This is a moderate trail.

Monday, May 14 through Sunday, May 26 - Western Wallflower Week - Join Park Rangers and the Seasonal Naturalist at Edgar Evins State Park for daily boat tours to view a magnificent display of this infrequent Tennessee wildflower and other species endemic to the limestone bluffs of Center Hill Reservoir. Be sure to arrive prepared for sun and rain exposure and to bring your binoculars. Bottled water, a bagged lunch and cameras are also recommended. Meet at the Courtesy Dock near the cabins. Please arrive 15 minutes before departure time. The boat will leave promptly at 10 a.m.. Duration about 3 hours. Limit 12 persons per tour. Sorry, no children under 3 years of age. Thursday, May 23 at 6:00 p.m. - Quarterly Board meeting of Friends of Edgar Evins State Park - Meet in building at entrance to campgrounds to begin planning summer and fall programs, including the now famous History Hayride in October. Open to all interested persons and members.

Saturday, May 25, 10:00 AM - Flag Replacement Ceremony - What better way to celebrate Memorial Day than to witness this moving traditional ceremony to retire one of our Country's flags? Presented by Boy Scout Troop 875. Meet at the Park Office.

Saturday, May 25, 7:00 PM - Flag Retirement Ceremony - Gather at the Fire Circle in the campgrounds to witness a ceremony performed by Boy Scout Troop #875 to retire several American flags.

Saturday, May 25 - First Annual Memorial Day Weekend and Campsite Decoration Contest - Show your colors and join the first Memorial Day Weekend Campsite Decoration Contest at Edgar Evins State Park. Reserve your camp site now so you will not miss out. Judging will take place Saturday night, May 25th. First place winner will receive two free camping nights on a future stay at Edgar Evins State Park during 2013; second place winner will receive one free camping night on a future stay at Edgar Evins State Park during 2013.*(See additional information below on redeeming prizes.)

Contest Rules: All decorations must be kid friendly, non-offensive, and Memorial Day themed. Contest participants must be registered camping guests of Edgar Evins State Park. Nothing can be attached to the campsite that might damage it, and it must be easily removed and completely removed upon guest departure.

* Winners will be able to redeem free nights at any time during 2013 at Edgar Evins only, except dates and sites will depend on availability of campsites for date(s) chosen and be subject to all other State Park and reservation rules.
