Ed Long



Ed Long, 69, died Friday, May 25, 2012  at Stones River Hospital E/R.      

A resident of Cannon Co., he was born in Sequatchie Co.

Ed was a member of the Centerhill Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge #774, Woodbury. He also was a Plumber, Pipe Fitter & Welder in Local 572 Nashville and a veteran of the Army. He was an accomplished musician where he was known for playing the Banjo.  He played many shows, festivals and for groups and was also known as a comedian.

Survivors:  

Wife of 47 years: Jeraldean Markum Long of the Centerhill Community.

Daughters: Susan (Barney) Darland of Pleasant View, TN. and Christy Melton of Woodbury.

Granddaughters: Kayla (Casey) Barrett of Readyville; Kasey Melton of Woodbury; Chelsea & Kristen Darland both of Pleasant View, TN.

Siblings: Anita Coon of Pikeville, Rita (Jerry) Douglas of Dunlap, Tina (Ruben) Batten of Dunlap, Susie Parrot of Mobile, Al., Homer (Carolyn) Long of Bushnell, FL. And David (Claudette) Long of Pickens, SC.

Sisters-in-law: Glenda Harris & Doris Markum both of the Centerhill Community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Milton Long & Dora Belle Camp Long; Siblings, Leonard, Steve, Anthony & Frank Long, Jr. and Brothers-in-law, Bill Coon, Kerry Harris & Jimmy Markum.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 28, 2012 at Centerhill Cemetery with Bro. Greg Mitchell.

Visitation will be after 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2012.
