Early Voting Numbers Trail August Election So Far

Early voting numbers for Cannon County for the November 2 Federal and State Elections are running behind those of the August 5 County General Election and Federal and State Primaries to date.
Through Monday, 378 local voters have cast their ballots in the Nov. 2 election early voting. Over the first five days of the Aug. election, 569 votes had been cast.
The August election features candidates for local offices in addition to federal and state primaries. The key races in the Nov. 2 election include governor, Sixth District Congressman, and state house of representative and senate.
The local ballot also includes a referendum on whether a liquor distillery should be allowed to operate in Cannon County.
Early voting continues through Oct. 28 at the Election Commission Office in the Adams Building on West Main Street. Hours are from 9 a.m. until noon Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and both Tuesdays the 19th and 26th voting will be held at 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.
