Today is the last day to vote early in the March 6 Presidential Preference Primary and Cannon County Republican Primary.

The Cannon County Election Office will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to vote.

Early voting began on Feb. 15. Through last Saturday, 245 early votes have been cast or absentee ballots received at the local election office. As the race for the Democratic Party presidential candidate is virtually uncontested, a huge majority of the votes so far (204) have been case in the Republican Primary.

Election Day for the two primaries is a week from Tuesday, on March 6.

Unofficial tallies for early voting and absentee ballot voting in Cannon County and across the state are being posted to the Tennessee Secretary of State’s Web site. The Web address is http://www.tn.gov/sos/election/data/turnout/20120306.htm.
