Judge Susan Melton presided over General Sessions on Tuesday.  Some of the results of the various cases that appeared on the docket included:

Patrick Gordon Clark pled guilty to DUI.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail.  That sentence was partially suspended, upon serving 48 hours, equal time on probation, losing his license for 1 year, paying a $350 fine and the costs.

Nick Alton Hollingsworth pled guilty to two counts of driving on a revoked license.  In each couth he was sentenced to 6 months in jail and ordered to pay the costs.  In another case Hollingsworth pled guilty to carrying a weapon.  He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay the costs.  In another case Hollingsworth pled guilty to possession of marijuana.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail, and ordered to pay a $250 fine and the costs.

Amber Nichole Johnson pled guilty under judicial diversion to possession of a schedule VI drug. She was placed on probation for 11 months 29 days and ordered to pay the costs.

Nathan Isiah Mann pled guilty to DUI.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail. That sentence was partially suspended upon serving 48 hours, equal time on probation, losing his license for 1 year, 24 hours of litter removal, paying a $350 fine and the costs.

William Ross Prater pled guilty to underage consumption.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days.  That sentence was suspended upon equal time on probation and paying the costs.

Richard B. Sitz pled guilty to DUI.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days.  That sentence was partially suspended upon serving 48 hours, equal time on probation, losing his license for 1 year, paying a $350 fine and the costs.  In another case Sitz pled guilty to driving on a revoked license.  He was sentenced to 6 months in jail.  That sentence was partially suspended upon serving 5 days in jail, equal time on probation and paying the costs.

Brian Alan Stafford agreed to the violation of his probation.  He was ordered to serve his original sentence of 11 months 29 days.  Stafford also pled guilty to 3 counts of theft under $500.  In each count he was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail.  In another case Stafford pled guilty to driving on a suspended license 4th offense.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail.  In another case Stafford pled guilty to criminal trespass.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail.  In another case Stafford pled guilty to evading arrest.  He was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail.

Kimberly Dawn Sykes pled guilty to DUI.  She was sentenced to 11 months 29 days in jail.  That sentence was partially suspended upon serving 48 hours, equal time on probation, losing her license for 1 year, 24 hours of litter removal, and paying a $350 fine and the costs.

Sheriff's Department

The discovery of two marijuana plants growing behind a shed on Howard Youree Road resulted in the arrest of Tommy Rogers.

Investigator Anthony Young had received information that the plants were at the home and that Rogers was growing them.

Rogers told Young that he didn't know anything about the plants, but thought a "woman named Foxie" had planted them behind his shed.

Rogers' wife was also interviewed and she claimed she didn't know anything about the plants, but she thought a "woman named Foxie planted the plants behind their shed. She stated that Foxie had wanted someone to mail her marijuana from Colorado."

Rogers was then cited with simple possession of a Schedule VI drug (marijuana.) He was given a Nov. 5 court date.

Three men face multiple charges following a single-vehicle auto accident on Finnie Simmons Road.

Jonathan Green was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident (hit and run) and with filing a false report. Terry Spray was charged with disorderly conduct and inciting to riot, while Tony Spray was charged with being a party to a crime.

Deputies Michael Hainey and Mike Smith were dispatched to the scene of the accident by the 911 Center. While in route, Smith radioed Hainey and told him to head to the Emergency Room at Stones River Hospital because the injured Green was being transported there by a family member or friend, later identified as Tony Spray. Then Hainey was radioed again by Smith who directed him to Iconium Road.

Arriving at the Iconium Road address, Hainey witnessed several people standing outside. Green was sitting on the front porch.

"I noticed Mr. Green holding a white cloth to his face," Hainey reported. The deputy also saw blood on Green's T-shirt and that his pants were ripped.

"I inquired if he had been involved in the accident at Finnie Simmons Road. Mr. Green stated that he had not, then attempted to hide his face again," Hainey said.

The deputy made Green remove the towel from his face.

"I observed that Mr. Green's right eye was swollen and discolored; he also appeared to have some minor abrasions on his face," Hainey said.

The deputy began to interview Green only to be interrupted by Terry Spray, "who appeared nervous and agitated, instructed Mr. Green to tell the truth."

Shortly afterwards, a pickup truck arrived at the Iconium Road address and two more individuals, identified as Tony Spray and Christopher Thomas, got out at the scene.

Hainey administered field sobriety tests to Green, who was then transported to the ER by the Cannon County Emergency Medical Service.

Deputy Smith arrived at the scene and Hainey began explaining that Mr. Green had failed two of the three sobriety tests and that he was going to charge Tony Spray for assisting Green in leaving the scene.

"When I instructed Mr. Spray to turn around and place his hands behind his back, his father Terry instantly became belligerent and approached me," Hainey said. Both Hainey and Smith told him repeatedly to step away.

"Terry Spray continued to behave in a highly agitated state by shouting and waving his arms; his aggressive behavior seemed focused on inciting the other family members present to attack myself and Deputy Smith," Hainey said.

Ultimately, Hainey had to physically restrain Terry Spray and place him under arrest. At this point, Mr. Thomas apparently attempted to prevent the arrest of Spray. Thomas was taken into custody as well.

A burglary was reported on Cobb Lane by Mark Roberts who reported that someone had entered his back door. Missing was a 16-gauge stainless steel New England Arms shotgun.

Andrew J. Bobo was charged with hindering secured creditors and passing worthless checks.

Woodbury Police

Lisa D. Patterson was charged with public intoxication by Patrolman Tracey Stoetzel. A hearing is set for Oct. 8 in General Sessions Court.

Dillon Anthony Collette was charged with disorderly conduct on Hayes Street. He was arrested by Patrolman John House. A hearing is set for Oct. 15 in General Sessions Court.

Robert Russell Stem was charged with two counts of passing worthless checks to NAPA Auto Parts. He was arrested by Assistant Chief Lowell Womack. A hearing is set for Oct. 8 in General Sessions Court.

David Lavender was charged with disorderly conduct by Patrolman Sebastian Krauss. A hearing date is set Nov. 17 in General Sessions Court.

Steven D. Davis was charged with public intoxication by Patrolman Sebastian Krauss. A hearing is set for Nov. 19 in General Sessions Court.
