Drug cases, accidents investigated by officers

Cannon County Sheriff’s Department

Richard Gentry, Curley Church Road, was charged with domestic assault. He was arrested by Officers Mike "Doc" Smith and Melanie McCormick following an incident at his home.

Randall Smotherman was charged with violation of probation. Making the arrest was Sgt. Seth Perry.

Five people were arrested following an auto accident with injury on Taylor Women Road.
Deputies Melanie McCormick and Mike Smith were dispatched to the crash scene only to discover the driver of the vehicle had left the scene.
McCormick was attempting to get the driver's information from the wrecked car when a volunteer fireman told her the driver just had been spotted running through a field near the accident scene.
The deputy discovered Harley Brown lying on the ground and complaining of pain to his side.
"Mr. Brown smelled of alcohol and had an unsteady gait. I did not perform a field sobriety test due to his complaint of injury," McCormick reported.
Brown refused a blood alcohol test, but was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
Colin Hanson, Dakota Young, Ashley Stephens and Colin Hanson Jr. were charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The minor was transported to the Cannon County Jail and a juvenile petition was issued.


While on patrol a Deputy Jordan McGee spotted a white passenger car with a blue light flashing in the rear window.
A check of the car's license plate said the vehicle belonged to Michael Allen Parker, who had a suspended driver's license.
"As I was talking to the driver, I noticed a smell that resembled marijuana. I asked the driver to step back to the vehicle where I asked him if there was any marijuana in the vehicle and he stated no," McGee reported.
A drug detecting dog then alerted to the smell of marijuana on the driver's side door.
A marijuana joint was discovered and a baggie with a small amount of green substance was found.
Parker was charged with driving on a suspended license, drug paraphernalia and simple possession of marijuana.

Deputies investigated the theft of a chainsaw, flat panel TV, cordless drill and other hand tools from a house on Pleasant View Road.

A $7,000 Suzuki sport bike was among the items stolen from a house on Hopewell Road.

A 12-by-8 Wells Fargo trailer was stolen containing floor jacks and miscellaneous office furniture. The VIN number from the trailer was entered into NCIC.


Woodbury Police

Henry Clay Hollandsworth was charged with criminal tresspass for entering or remaining on the property of 106 Parker Street. That address is under quarantine for a meth lab seizure and is posted no trespassing. He was arrested by Patrolman John House. A hearing is set for July 23.

Ashley Ann Bost was charged with criminal trespass for entering or remaining on the property of 106 Parker St. She was also charged with aggravated burglary by Patrolman John House. A hearing is set for July 23 in General Sessions Court.

Brandon Lee Osborn was charged with DUI after being stopped by Assistant Chief Lowell Womack.

Woodbury Police investigated a break-in at West End Tobacco Outlet. Cash was taken along with $1,273 dollars worth of cigarettes.
A quantity of lottery cards were stolen as well.

Jonathan Randall Cooper was charged with driving without a license. A hearing is set July 23.

Robert Michael Wimberly was charged with theft of property from the storage shed of his ex-wife. He also faces burglary charges in connection with the incident.

Sterling Bennett Gipson was charged with possession of Hydrocodone, a schedule 3 controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernailia by Patrolman John House. A hearing is set for July 23 in General Sessions Court.
Gipson also faces resisting arrest and tampering with evidence charges.

Andres Amaro was charged with operating a motor vehicle without a license following an auto accident on South McCrary Street. Patrolman Chris Brown also charged him with operating an unregistered vehicle without insurance.

Tyler Bynum was charged with operating an unregistered vehicle, no seat belt (second offense) and driving without a license by Patrolman Chris Brown.

Ashley A. Bost was charged with theft of a check and forgery by Assistant Chief Lawrence Womack.

Joseph Willard was charged with driving on a suspended license. A hearing is set for July 23.

Lisa D. Patterson was charged with DUI by Patrolman Bill Brock.

Laura Ann Reed was charged with forgery in connection with possession of a counterfeit $2,300 check from the UCLA Foundation in Los Angeles.
