Nashville based eye surgeon, Dr. Ming Wang, will present an informative and educational vision care talk for members and guests of the Cannon County Senior Citizens Center at noon on Thursday, August 29.

In addition to tips on vision care and the various options for corrective surgical vision enhancements, the renowned eye surgeon will also provide some special entertainment for the attendees. He will demonstrate his musical abilities with the “er hu”, a Chinese musical instrument similar to the violin.

Dr. Wang grew up in China during the devastating Cultural Revolution when millions of youth were deported and condemned to a lifetime of hard labor and poverty. He learned to play a Chinese violet “er-hu” as a teenager to escape deportation. He often uses it in conjunction with “Music for Sight”, a program that promotes public awareness of the efforts for sight restoration for the blind.

Accompanying the doctor will be classic guitarist, composer and close friend, Carlos Enrique Gonzalez. The doctor is frequently called upon to speak about the preciousness of freedom and choice in America compared to life in China. These talks are often followed by musical entertainment by the two friends.

The public is invited to attend this educational and entertaining program. Additional information can be obtained by contacting the Cannon County Senor Citizens Center at 609 Lehman Street, Woodbury, Tn 37190, 615-563-5304.
