Mr. Douglas E. "Doug" Ramsey, 62, of Woodbury passed away on June 8, 2017 after an extended illness. He was born on Nov. 6, 1954 in Tracy City, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elgin Ramsey and Ethal Elizabeth Ramsey Hill. He was also preceded by his son, Ronnie Ramsey.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Ramsey of Woodbury; a daughter, Denise & Daniel Young of Portland; mother-in-law, Ernestine Smith Bryant; grandchildren, Jessica (Dillon) Davis and Victor Roller, Jr.; brother-in-law, John Smith; special nephews, Jonathan Smith, Ethan Smith, Andrew Smith, and Corey Smith.

Doug had a love for life. He enjoyed doing anything and everything. After high school, he went on to college and earned an Associate's Degree. Later he earned his pilot's license and went parachuting. Among many of the other things he did, he went scuba diving, loved working on and shooting guns, being outdoors, hunting, and fishing. He drove an 18-wheeler for many years with Averitt and MS until his health forced his retirement. Mr. Ramsey loved the Lord and the Bible. He preached at different congregations over the years. He was a member of Midway Church of Christ. He and Sherry celebrated 30 years of marriage in January. Doug never gave up wanting to live and when he needed help Sherry was there to take care of him.

Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will be on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 2 pm in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Justin Reed will officiate. Interment will be in McMahan Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ethan Smith, Andrew Smith, Corey Smith, Victor Roller, Jr., Dillon Davis, and Ryan Hawkins.
