Donald Moore Drake

Donald Moore Drake, 78, of McMinnville, died Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Alvin C. York VA Hospital in Murfreesboro following an extended illness.

A native of Blue Ridge, GA, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, an industrial engineer for Rockford Textile, a member of the VFW and a member of the Rock Island Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Lance Drake of McMinnville; five children and spouses, Steve Drake, Rock Island; Joy and Bud Simmons, Lebanon; Glenn Lance, Pulaski; Brent Lance, McMinnville and Linda Williamson, Woodbury; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bill and Madeline Drake, Fredericksburg, TX and Murray and Jeanie Drake, Wilmington, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Murray and Linnie Ione Moore Drake; first wife, Sherry Drake; daughter, Becky Drake and grandparents, Ernest and May Moore.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Chapel of High’s Funeral Home in McMinnville at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2011, with David Daugherty officiating. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery in White County.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21 and from 9 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday, June 22.
