Brandon William McCoy, 3651 Bradyville Rd., Readyville, was charged with Simple Possession of a Schedule VI drug and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia on Nov. 23 by Cannon County Sheriff's Deputy Eric Moss.

The deputy was patrolling John Bragg Hwy. at approximately 10 p.m. on that date when he observed a black GMC Sonoma with a broken headlight. He stopped the vehicle on John Bragg Hwy. at Hoover Lane.

McCoy was identified as the driver. The deputy observed that McCoy's pupils were constricted even though light conditions were low. He also observed McCoy's hands were shaking.

McCoy, when asked by Deputy Moss, denied having any narcotics on his person or inside the vehicle. McCoy also stated there was no need to search his vehicle. Deputy Moss asked McCoy to exit his vehicle.

The deputy ran his K-9 partner around the exterior of the vehicle and it alerted to the odor of narcotics on both the driver and passenger door. McCoy again stated there were no narcotics inside the vehicle.

Deputy Moss searched inside and found marijuana seeds in the driver's side floorboard and in the driver's side door. He found a wooden cigar box located in the extended cab portion of the vehicle. Inside the box the deputy found two small bags of marijuana, loose marijuana and seeds, a pipe and rolling papers.

The narcotics and paraphernalia were seized. McCoy was issued released citations and a warning ticket for Violation of the Light Law. Initial court date is Dec. 6.
