Cripple Creek Cloggers will begin a new season of teaching, practice and performance on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m. at The Block restaurant, 123 Southeast Broad Street, Murfreesboro 37130. All interested persons are welcome. No experience is necessary and there is no charge.

The troupe, founded as a 4-H activity at Kittrell School in 1967, will celebrate their 50th anniversary in June, 2017. A delegation from the group just returned after 17 days of representing the U.S. in three folkloric festivals in Normandy and Brittany in France. They have recently received an invitation to be the U.S. representative in the Hilmarfestivalen, in Steinkjer, Norway, in November.

Members of the troupe now come not only from Rutherford County, but also from DeKalb, Cannon, Bedford, Robertson, Wilson and Davidson. Teens and adults are invited.

Cripple Creek Cloggers is also the host troupe for International Folkfest, the international folkloric festival they helped to found in 1982. Currently the festival planning committee is working to prepare for the June 11-18, 2017 event.
