Cow dies in crash
James L. Sherburne faces several charges follow a truck vs. cow accident on Myers Lane.
Deputy Andrew Colwell was dispatched to a home on Myers Lane where he spoke with Hollis Crabtree who advised his father's cow had gotten out from behind the fence "and he was on a four-wheeler trying to herd the cow back into the field when a white Ford flatbed came around the curve and struck the cow."
The driver of the truck told Crabtree that he did not have a driver's license and would soon return with a licensed driver to settle up and make arrangements about the cow.
Colwell, assisted by Deputy Paul Reed, then began a search for the vehicle in question. Ultimately, the officers discovered a white Ford F350 flatbed with substantial front end damage and black fur on the grill on Hollow Springs Road.
The truck was registered to James L. Sherburne, who was charged with driving on a revoked license (fourth offense), leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.
The cow was valued at $3,000.
Christopher Robert Williams, custodial interference.
Barbara Dillard, violation of parole (for theft).
Jonathan Edgar Payton, violation of probation.
