Cannon County is anticipating a great holiday season this year as they are planning several events during the weeks ahead.
Starting on Friday, Nov. 21, merchants will host their annual Cannon Country Christmas Open House in downtown Woodbury.
A record total of 31 stores are participating in the event. Portraits with Santa will be available at Bob and Jules General Store at 111 West Main St. (next to the Cannon Courier).
On Saturday, Nov. 22, the festivities continue at 8 a.m. and end at 8 p.m. while the two-night event will include door prizes and refreshments in addition to that special visitor from the North Pole.
During Thanksgiving weekend, arts and crafts will take center stage at The Arts Center of Cannon County for the annual Holiday Bazaar on Nov. 29. The event begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. with vendors that run the gamut from arts, crafts, handmade items and items for the home. Holiday Bazaar is free to the public.
"We invite everyone to attend our annual holiday market. We'll have 30 local craft artists selling their handmade wares. One day only! Shop here first, enjoy lunch at The Blue Porch Restaurant then head to the Square for antiques and uniques," Arts Center of Cannon County Executive Director Neal Appelbaum said.
Lions Club Day will take place in Woodbury on Dec. 6 at the Lions Club Building. The Christmas parade begins at noon while the Christmas Tour of Homes begins at 4 p.m. Contact Bruce Steelman at (615) 563-2554 for further information on these activities.
In addition to all of the events taking place in downtown Woodbury, Wildwood Christmas Tree Farm will open on Nov. 22 with hayrides, refreshments and a children's tree house playground.
