Thursday, September 10, 2009 9:41 am
The Cripple Creek Cloggers, accompanied by the Craig Duncan musicians from Nashville, will help inaugurate the first "Festival of Nations" at 12 noon at the Tennessee State Fair on Saturday.
All ethnic groups located in Tennessee have been invited to share music and dance at this first of what organizers hope will be an annual event. Barbara Cory, of Woodbury, will dance with the cloggers for this performance.
Those interested in participating with this clogging group are invited to come on Monday nights at 7 p.m. to The Vine, 118 W. Vine St., Murfreesboro 37130. Lessons are free and the group is constantly busy with area performances and also with planning for International Folkfest, to be held next during June 13-20, 2010, and for travels to represent the U.S. in other countries.
The troupe has been invited to participate in the Festival of International Cultures in San Juan, Puerto Rico, during November 1-9. They will perform at the Cannonsburgh Harvest Days and Fiber Festival at noon on October 24 at Cannonsburgh and also will be featured at the Leanna Community Center's twice-monthly gathering of bluegrass musicians at 7 p.m. on October 24.
