Cora Burks Erwin



Cora Burks Erwin, 89, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at her home following an extended illness.

A resident of Woodbury, she was born in Bradyville.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Juanita O. Burks of Woodbury and Violet Stallard of KY; a brother-in-law. Frank Erwin of KY; a niece, Alicea Burks (Ken) Moore of Manchester; nephews, Tom (Carolyn) Burks Jr. of Murfreesboro, Ronny Burks, Richard (Karen) Burks and Randy (Sandra) Brandon, all of Woodbury

Also surviving  are several great nieces and nephews.

Ms. Cora was preceded in death by her parents, James Smartt Burks and Fannie Gertrude Todd Burks; husband, Troy Erwin; sister, Lurene Brandon; brother, Tom S. Burks Sr.; and nephew, Jimmy Brandon.

A member of 1st Baptist Church, she was a retired postal employee. She was a volunteer with the Stones River Hospital and with the Red Cross Blood Mobile.

Funeral swrvices will be held at the 1st Baptist Church of Woodbury at  11:00 a.m. on Friday March 11, 2011 with Bro. J. L. “Pete” Ford and Bro. Bobby Zumbro. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Woodbury Funeral Home and Friday until time of service at Woodbury First Baptist Church

In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Todd Family Cemetery, American Diabetes Assoc. or American Heart Assoc.

Great nephews will serve as active pallbearers.
