The Cannon County Solid Waste facility will no longer take scrap metal or tires.

"It is not cost effective for the county to haul scrap metal or tires to the buyer. Sorry for the inconvenience," Cannon County Executive Brent Bush said.

Bush has also announced the convenience center on Alexander Drive will now be opening the following days and hours:

OPEN: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CLOSED: Wednesday and Sunday

Only bagged residential garbage is being accepted at the facility.
