Clyde Phillip Jones age 100, passed away on January 1, 2016 at his residence. He was a native of Dekalb County, but has lived in Murfreesboro since 1962. He was a Church of Christ preacher, farmer and also worked in the auto repair business. He was a 1934 graduate of Liberty High School. He was a member of the Salem Creek Church of Christ. Clyde served in the U. S. Army during World War II as a Sergeant in the 45th Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of the Buldge. While serving in the Army he received the following declarations: Bronze Star, 2 Purple Hearts, European Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal with 3 Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal and the Combat Infantryman's Badge.

He is survived by his wife of 78 years, Opal M. (Cripps) Jones, son Larry (Gail) Jones of Phoenix, AZ, sons Michael and Roger Jones of Murfreesboro, and daughter Debbie (Jim) Fuller of Murfreesboro; 6 grandchildren, Karen (Frank) Soto of Edgewood, NM, Susan Jones, of Phoenix, AZ, Brian (Carole Ann) Jones of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin Jones of Murfreesboro, Josh (Jessica) Fuller of Gallatin, TN, and Victoria (Jason) Melhorn of Murfreesboro; and 9 great grandchildren, Dalton, Hunter, Matthew, Sidney, Riley, Leah, Greysen, Averie, and Jaxson. He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. Jones and Hassie May (Smithson) Jones, daughter-in-law Shirley G. Jones, granddaughter Angela (Jones) Maraschiello and sisters Bessie (Jones) Bell and Jessie (Jones) Adamson.

Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 3, 2016 at Jennings & Ayers Funeral Home. A chapel service will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 4, 2016 at Jennings & Ayers with Ron Harper officiating. Burial will follow at Milton Cemetery with Military Honors. Friends and family will serve as active pallbearers.
