Clyde Basham



Clyde Basham, 79, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at MTMC following an extended illness.

A resident of Woodbury, he was a Cannon County native.

Survivors include: his devoted wife of 61 years: Mary Luzetta Parker Basham of Woodbury

Four children: Gaylon Dwaine (Deborah) Basham of Murfreesboro, Nancy Denise (Danny) Campbell of Mt. Juliet, Ragon Shea (Averian) Basham of Cookeville; Robin Renea (Jim) Sabia of Woodbury.

Brother: James Basham of Woodbury.

Sister: Mary Nippa of Ill.

Four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren also survive.

Mr. Basham fought a brave battle against cancer for 8 1/2 months and was an inspiration to his family and everyone who knew him. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved gardening, fishing and U.T. Football.  Clyde was an active member of Simmons Chapel Free Methodist Church and loved the God that he served.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram Lawton Basham and Myra Rogers Basham; 2 brothers, Claude and Ray Basham and sister, Sylvia Basham Smithson and lifelong friend, Lawrence Parker.

Funeral services will be held in Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, MArch 17, 2011 with Bro. Doyle Sadler, Bro. Scott Clark and Bro. Mark Parker officating.

Burial will be in Gilley Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday, March 16, 2011 from 5 to 9 p.m.
