Clarence Ray Barker



Clarence Ray Barker, 88, died Saturday, May 5, 2012 zt his home in Readyville.

Mr. Barker, a native of Cannon County, served as song leader for over 50 years at New Hope Church of Christ, where he also served as deacon and later as an elder. He was a life long farmer and a director of the Cannon County Farm Bureau from 1967 to 2010.  In 2004 the Tennessee Farm Bureau federation selected him as outstanding volunteer leader.  Mr. Barker also served for 20 years as a Cannon County commissioner.

Survivors:  

Wife of 59 years: Henrietta Tenpennny Barker of Readyville.

3 Sons & Daughters-in-law: Mark & Cindy Barker, Boyd & Gayle Barker, John & Kay Barker, all of Cannon County.

5 Grandchildren: Luke Barker, Lydia Hancock, James Barker, Zachary Barker & Steven Barker.

5 Great Grandchildren: Ben Barker, Evan Barker, Ragen Barker, Ethan Hancock & Josie Hancock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Oscar Barker & Willie Bell Holmes Barker.

Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 with Bro. Geoffrey Sykes & Bro. Ralph Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday.

Pallbearers: Grandchildren.

Honorary Pallbearers: Richard Burks, Howard Witty, Tony Brown & Don Northcutt.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Hope Church of Christ, Clayton Glenn Scholarship Fund or Ag in the Classroom.
