Chick Chain Show And Sale Set For Oct. 5

This year’s 4-H Cannon County Chick Chain Show and Sale will be held Tuesday, October 5th at the newly renovated Courthouse Lawn.

The show will be held at 9:00 a.m. and the sale will begin 10:00 a.m.

This year’s show and sale is later than usual, due to late arriving chicks this spring; however this year’s group of hens hold to be some of the best in recent memory.

As in years past, the chickens will be black sex- link breed, which are known for their excellent egg-laying capacity. This year we will be offering 26 groups of 6 black-sex link chickens for sale.

Please remember that all proceeds from the show and sale will be used to fund the project for future years. In case of rain, the show and sale will be held at the Expo building at the Fairgrounds.

4-H Clubs - One of the great 4-H traditions here in Cannon County, is our local 4-H clubs. 4-H Club meetings have been scheduled at all of the grammar schools in the 4th through 8th grades. Please ask your teacher for the dates and times of your particular class. We will be having our first meeting in October, where we will be electing officers, discussing our year in 4-H, as well as talking about our first contest of the year; the public speaking contest.

ATV Safety Rider Course - Cannon County is pleased to be associated with the American Safety Institute’s ATV Rider Course. The Rider Course is a program designed to teach youth how to enjoy ATV riding in a fun, safe, and responsible manner. A course is currently being planned for this fall, which will emphasize safe riding techniques in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Please give the 4-H office a call if you are interested or for more information.
