Charlotte Rose Winfree age 67 of McMinnville, TN, (Centertown Community) died Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, TN. She was born June 08, 1948, in Detroit, Michigan, and was a retired educator of 30 years teaching elementary grades in Warren County primarily in Centertown and also at Covenant, she spoke fluent Spanish and taught others to speak it as well. Charlotte was a member of Bates Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was an active member and enjoyed working with the young folks, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, a volunteer at River Park Hospital, and she often visited with the patients at N.H.C. Health Care. She was an active member of the community, participated in a book club and in a support group, and loved to travel and write poetry.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents Charles Harding and Hazel Josephine Daniel Winfree and she is survived by her sisters Kathy Dean Winfree, Rita (Tommy) Shehane, Janice (Mike) Reynolds all of McMinnville and Vicky (Kenneth) Dearman of Douglasville, GA, brothers Andy (Nadine) Winfree and David Winfree of McMinnville, TN; nephews and nieces Josh (Jenna) Winfree, Kent (Lisa) Winfree, Jarrett Winfree, Emily (Osvaldo) Lopez, Blaka (Nikki) Reynolds, Brett Youngblood, Caleb (Heather) Shehane, Isaac Shehane, Darrell (Janine) Winfree, Kelly Dearman, and Kenny Dearman. Many great nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends also survive.
Funeral service will be 2 PM Saturday, June 27, 2015, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Lyon Walkup and Mark Parker will officiate. Interment will follow at Blues Hill Cemetery. The Winfree Family will receive friends Friday from 10 AM until 8 PM and again Saturday from 10 AM until the time of service at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
