Charles Richmond Insell



Mr. Charles Richmond Insell, 89, of Murfreesboro passed away on October 16, 2015 after an extended illness. He was born on April 25, 1926 in Murfreesboro, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Levi Insell, Sr. and Molly Mina Gannon Insell; a son, William "Billy" Insell; brothers, Sam Insell, Jr. and Eugene Insell and a sister, Jane Cox.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy "Dot" Insell of Murfreesboro; sons, Rick (Deb) Insell of Murfreesboro, Bob (Kaye) Insell of Gallatin; daughters, Gayle Insell of Palm Beach, FL and Kay (Wayne) Adamson of Woodbury; sister, Sarah McCaslin of Murfreesboro; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Carl (Pearl) James of Murfreesboro and Yvonne Carter of Murfreesboro; and grandchildren, Tom (Sarah) Insell, Kyle (Megan) Insell, Matt Insell, Clint (Jennifer) Insell, McKenzie (Bill) Woods, Chelsee (Shawn) Stevens, Corey (Stacey) Barrett, Erin (David) Tucker, Jake Alexander, Christy Adamson and thirteen great grandchildren.

Mr. Insell was a veteran of the Army Air Corp serving during WWII as a member of the 325th Glider Infantry, stationed in France and Germany. After finishing his military service he and Mrs. Dot married and began raising their family. They celebrated 67 years of marriage in January. He was a retired employee of Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corp. During his years with them he did everything from setting poles, meter reading and lineman. Mr. Insell was never one to sit around. He loved to spend time working on his farm and cut wood to sell just to stay active. He and Mrs. Dot spent many happy years doing things with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. When his health began to fail, Mrs. Dot stayed by his side every day. He was a long-time member of the Woodbury First Baptist Church. His infectious smile would light a room on the darkest days and will never be forgotten.

Visitation with the family will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, October 18, 2015 from 1 to 6 pm. Funeral services will be Monday, October 19, 2015 at 2 pm. in the Smith Funeral Home chapel. Herb Alsup and Hunter Hay will officiate. Interment will be in Coleman Cemetery. The US Military Honor Guard will present honors at the service. His grandsons, Clint, Tom, Kyle, Matt, Jake and Corey will serve as pallbearers.
