Charles L. Baird age 88 of the Statesville Community, died Saturday evening, Feb. 6, 2016 at his residence surrounded by his five children
and devoted dog, Molly. He was born Jan. 10, 1928 in Lascassas, TN in the Twelve Corners Community, son of the late Leland Theophilus and
Sarah Irene Baskin Baird. Charles was preceded in death by four brothers, Zylo Wilson, Robert "Possum", Dudley and Gairy Baird;
sister, Elizabeth Berwick and beloved granddaughter, Grace Lauren Baird.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was employed by the State of Tennessee for 28 yrs. as a nurse and after retirement
enjoyed working at several local restaurants. Charles was a member of the Auburntown Church of Christ. He enjoyed cooking, gardening,
flowers, raising chickens and spending time with his many friends and family. He was an active member of the Alexandria Senior Citizens,
Statesville Grange and Statesville Home Demonstration Club.
Charles is survived by his children, Sara (Willie) Patton of Statesville, Larry (Hazel) Baird of Lebanon, Terry (Sonya) Baird of Woodbury, Renee'
(Anthony) Hutchison of Morrison and Lisa Baird of Woodbury; sister, Christine Huddleston of Murfreesboro; 10 grandchildren, Josh (Shelly)
Patton, Amanda Patton, Matthew "Bert" (Joyce) Patton, John Baird, Lauren Baird, Jeremy (Jana) Baird, Tara Baird Ervin, Holly Baird,
Brent and Brandon Hutchison; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews ; dear honorary daughter, Sarah Harrington and his beloved
Funeral services 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. David Dunn and Bro. Robert Amason officiating.
Burial will follow at Republican Grove Cemetery in Rutherford County. Visitation 2-8 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. till service time on Tuesday.
