Retired Major Charles Evans Todd, originally of Woodbury, Tennessee, passed away Dec. 29, 2015 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 97. He was buried with full military honors on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 in Arlington National Cemetery near the nation's capital.

Charles was born in 1918 on his grandfather's farm near Woodbury, in what then was called Todd Hollow. He went to school with Bill Smith, Paul Reed and his cousins Charles and Ruth Barrett. He enlisted in the Army in 1936 serving first in the Territory of Hawaii, then in World War II and the Korean War as well as many other stations during his military career. He also worked in the aerospace industry in California and in the Federal civil service in Seattle. In 1976 he and his family visited Woodbury to meet again with old friends and relatives who gave him a fine welcome home party. In his retirement he traveled with his wife Patricia, painted in many artistic media, and was an avid photographer.

Attending the service at Arlington were his daughter Terry Ferl, grandsons Matthew, Michael and Jeffrey Corey, his great-granddaughter Scarlett Corey, his niece Frances and her husband Charles Costigan, his nephew Roger Long, his grand-niece Shaughnessy Costigan and friend Rob Gasser. Charles is survived by his wife of 75 years, Patricia (O'Shaughnessy) Todd.
