Chairman Resigns From Cannon County GOP

The chairman of the Cannon County Republican Party announced her resignation today.

Shirley Borren contacted the Cannon Courier to make the information public.

Borren has been chairman since October of last year. She provided no reason for her decision to leave the position.

The Courier has not been contacted by a representative of the local party regarding Borren's replacement. The group was scheduled to meet Thursday night at the Cannon County Courthouse.

However, due to the Commissioner's Budget Meeting last night the Cannon County Republican Party will meet on Monday night May 9th, 2011 at 6:00 pm at the Courthouse.

Other current officers are Marcus Bowling (co-chair), Amy Herrington (treasurer), Laura Bodary (vice treasurer) and Corey Davenport (secretary).

During the 2010 election, Borren worked for the campaigns of both current 6th District U.S. House Representative Diane Black and Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam.
