Carlton Bratten "Pop" Morris, age 93, of Murfreesboro passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Alvin C. York Hospice Unit. He was a native of Cannon Co.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Patsy & Jerry Stacey of Murfreesboro; Granddaughters, Candi (Rob) Mathis and Susan (Brian) Carmouche both of Murfreesboro; Great grandchildren, Carl Mathis, Sam Mathis, Sarah Mathis, & Kaylee Carmouche; Brother by another mother, George (Peggy) Trail. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Morris; parents, Hardee Morris & Mai Hennessee Morris; Brothers, Claude Thomas, Frank Morris, Tobe Morris, Dink Morris; and sisters, Carrie Bell Cooper & Elizabeth Purcell.

Mr. Morris was a World War II veteran where he served in the Army as a machine gunner. He worked at Colonial Shirt Factory and retired as an inspector at Samsonite. He was a member of Milton Church of Christ. Mr. Morris loved working in his wood shop making chairs. He also enjoyed fishing and coaching many children in baseball.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Friday, July 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home with Bros. Teb Batey, Carl Mathis, & Thomas Earl Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Gardens. Visitation with the family will be from 3 to 7 PM Thursday, July 21, 2016.
