Carl Eugene Neal, 87 of Milton passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Alive Hospice following an extended illness.  A native of Rutherford Co., he was the son of the late Carl Alexander & May Elizabeth Jackson Neal and was married to the late Marguerite Scales Neal.

He is survived his children,  Carla Sheppard of Buna, Tx, Beth Freeman of Milton, Patricia (Steve) Freeman of Hermitage, Eric (Marina) Neal of Murfreesboro, Alan (Lynn) Neal of Clinton, Andy (Becky) Neal of Cookeville, Lisa (Dale) Wilson of Lascassas and Bobby Neal of Milton; 18 grandchildren, Dustin & Justin Sheppard, Carly & Rachel Freeman, Jennifer Brownlee, Jubal, Jacob, Jeremiah, Matthew, Ben, Catherine, Emilie, Elizabeth, Zach and Josh Neal, Eric, Jessica and Erin Wilson and 2 great grandchildren, Josie Freeman & Georgie Brownlee.  He was preceded in death by 2 sons-in-law, Robert Sheppard & George Freeman.

Funeral services will be 4 pm Thursday at Milton Baptist Church with his son-in-law, Dale Wilson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Milton Cemetery.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Visitation will be Wed., from 5 to 7 pm and Thursday from 3 to 4 pm at Milton Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Milton Baptist Church, Milton Cemetery, Alive Hospice or Oakland High School Library.

A member of the Milton Baptist Church, he was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Navy and was a retired teacher at Oakland High School.
