Cannon's Young Child Advocate of the year

The Week of the Young Child will be celebrated from April 6-12, 2014. Cannon County is joining communities across Tennessee, as well as our nation, in a celebration of young children and those who make a difference in their lives.

As part of this celebration, the Cannon County School System would like to recognize Mrs. Lori Reed as Cannon County's Young Child Advocate of the Year.

Mrs. Reed is the Family Service Coordinator for the Mid-Cumberland Head Start/Early Head Start Program located in Woodbury. In this position, Mrs. Reed serves as an advocate for Hear Start families by assisting them in the creation of Family Partnership Agreements.

Then, Mrs. Reed works closely with families in the completion of these agreements by being a resource provider. Mrs. Reed also facilitates the Med-Cumberland Head Start Parent Committee.

The purpose of this committee is to engage parents in their child's education and to submit suggestions for program improvement to the Head Start Policy Council which is the decision making body for this program. In addition, Mrs. Reed cooperates with other community agencies and refers Head Start families to these agencies for support and service.
Mrs. Reed has an Associate of Arts Degree
