Mark your calendar! The annual Cannon County Fourth of July celebration is set for 4 p.m. Monday, July 4 at Dillon Park in Woodbury.

The fireworks display will begin at dark. The event is sponsored by Cannon County, the Town of Woodbury, the City of Auburntown and the Hilton Stone American Legion Post 279 along with the Sons of Squadron 279.

"There will be lots of free games for the children, plus a dunking tank, where you will have a chance to dunk some of your favorite folks in the county," said Charlie Harrell, manager of the annual fireworks event.

Already signed on to sit on the dunking tank is Hunter Hay, minister of the First Baptist Church in Woodbury; followed by Daniel Hayes, minister of the Woodbury Church of Christ, with surprises between. Principal Mike Jones, Cannon County High School, is also on the "guest list" along with County Executive Mike Gannon and Woodbury Mayor Harold Patrick.

Funds generated by the dunking booth will go for a $1,000 scholarship for a CCHS graduating senior.

Admission to the event is free with the public asked to bring non-perishable food item to be donated to the Cannon County Emergency Food Bank. Items on the Food Bank's request list include flour, sugar, cooking oil, powdered milk, instant potatoes, peaches, pinto beans, cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, canned meat items and peanut butter.

American Legion Post 279 will be selling American Flags throughout the event.

Several concessions stands will be manned by the Senior Citizens Center, the REACH -

After School Kids and the Special Ed/Olympics Team.

Professional drone pilot, Chris Grininger, will return to celebration with his drone demonstration. Last year, Grininger videoed the fireworks display with his drone as well as Woodbury's Veterans Day Parade.

"It's our goal for the annual Fireworks Celebration is to make it bigger and better each year," Harrell said.

"Come on out and let's celebrate what a great country we live in."
