Cannon County soccer closed its regular season with a pair of setbacks, falling to York , 3-0, and Marshall County, 3-0.

The Lionettes (3-12-1, 1-7-1) were playing with a limited roster due to a number of injuries and players missing for school-related activities.

Missing key players hampered the team's offensive attack but the defense played hard and tried to give the team a chance.

The Lionettes honored seniors Kendra Maynard, Kristen McReynolds and Molly Williams during the match against York.

McReynolds and Williams were three-year members of the squad and this was Maynard's first season playing.
Maynard made an immediate impact with three goals and one assist for the season.

"She is a really powerful athlete and would have been an absolute juggernaut had she begun playing at an earlier age," Cannon County Head Coach Zach McAllister said. "She is very receptive to instruction and will play any position asked without question or reservation. Athletes like Kendra are unique, and I consider it a privilege to have had the opportunity to work with her."

McReynolds played for three years and has been a force in the program.

"She plays in the midfield which requires a player to be both defender and attacker," McAllister said. "She is an exceptionally bright young lady and always seems to be in the right place at the right time on the pitch. She is also extremely tough as she has played every game this season with shin splints. Her attitude is another aspect worthy of praise."

Williams is the team leader in assists with five and she was second in goals with four. She also served as the team's captain for the 2014 soccer campaign.

"She is a fantastic young lady and it has been such a pleasure coaching her. She is an outstanding athlete with a tremendous amount of character. She has meant a great deal to the soccer program at CCHS."
