Monday, March 1, 2010 7:14 pm
The National Weather Service in Nashville has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 3 am to 3 PM CST Tuesday.
* Geographic area: accumulating snow is most likely in an area generally east of a line from Jamestown... to Cookeville... to just east of Manchester. This includes the city of Crossville.
* Accumulations: an inch of snow accumulation is expected across the advisory area... with local amounts up to 2 inches... especially along the Cumberland Plateau... between Crossville ... Fall Creek Falls and Coalmont.
* Timing: a mix of rain and snow will develop tonight... changing to all snow by sunrise... and continuing into mid afternoon Tuesday.
* Impacts: temperatures will fall to the upper 20s to lower 30s late tonight and early Tuesday... and will only creep into the mid 30s by mid afternoon. Thus... expect snow to accumulate on area roadways... especially along secondary roads... bridges and overpasses.
This Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow are expected to cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.
