(From left) Director of Schools Barbara Parker, Board of Education Chairman Randy Gannon and Cannon County Schools Education Association President Beth Palombo were present as Gannon signed papers Friday to join the Race to the Top program.
Race to the Top is a federal initiative to provide grants to encourage and reward states for creating conditions for education reform and innovation.  States are eligible under section 14006(a)(2) of the ARRA.

Fifty percent of the Race to the Top funding will be sub-granted to participating LEAs according to their relative share of funding under Title I, Part A.  The remaining fifty percent of the funding will be available through competitive grants.
Cannon County Schools is excited to be a part of this great initiative.  We look forward to collaborating with the Cannon County Education Association and the State Department of Education through this endeavor, Director of Schools Barbara Parker said.
