CCHS students attended the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) 73rd Annual State Leadership Conference at Chattanooga Convention Center March 21-23, 2018.
During the three day convention, students participated in competitions, attended workshops, and had the opportunity to listen to exceptional speakers. The conference theme was "Unlimited." Students learned that they have unlimited potential in their families, careers, and community.
CCHS FCCLA was awarded the Power of Reading Award and Silver STAR Chapter Certification. Advisor Connie Lorance was awarded the Lifetouch Exemplary Leader Award. Three CCHS students advanced from district competitions to compete at the state level. The results are as follows: Ashton Gilley and Destinee Byrd won 4th place in Chapter Service Project. Austin Powell won 1st place in Leadership, and he will be representing Tennessee at the National FCCLA Convention in Atlanta, Georgia this summer.
Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for young men and women in Family and Consumer Sciences education in public and private school through grade 12. Everyone is part of a family, and FCCLA is the only national Career and Technical Student Organization with the family as its central focus. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers, and communities by addressing important personal, work, and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences education.
