Cannon County Farmers Market
Open every Saturday beginning at 7:00 A.M. at the Farmer's Pavilion at the Arts Center of Cannon County.

HOUSES NEEDED for the Lions Club Christmas Tour of Homes which will be held on Saturday December 2nd. Please contact Lois Larimer at 615-542-1858 if you would like to share your decorated home with friends and neighbors. A great Christmas tradition which benefits a very worthy cause.

COATS FOR CANNON COMMUNITY PROJECT
The Woodbury Lions Club is preparing for the COATS FOR CANNON and expanding it. Coats can be picked up at the Lions Club Building on Friday Nov. 10 from 4:00pm until 7:30pm and on Saturday from 8:30 am until 1:30 pm. Coats are now being collected at Sue Patrick CPA's office at 109 Lester Street, Woodbury. Phone 615 563-1328 if you have questions. Gloves, scarves, hats, and socks are being accepted. Anyone wishing to make a donation can leave these at Sue's office. This is an example of how the Lions Club Serves the Community. Please help. The coats can be used or new. Other items should be new. Cash donations and clothing items are now being accepted.

SOLID WASTE CENTER HOURS
The Current Hours of Operation at the Cannon County Convenience Center:
CLOSED Sunday & Wednesday
7 AM to 5 PM Monday & Tuesday & Saturday
9 AM to 7 PM Thursday & Friday
Only household waste will be accepted at the Convenience Center. There will no longer be any building materials accepted or cardboard pickup provided. Please make note of any changes.

FLAGS FOR SALE
The American Legion Post 279 in Woodbury is selling flags and accessories. The monies raised from the sale of these flags goes 100% back to our Community, our Youth and our Veterans, in Cannon County. We have available an assortment of all sizes and all types of flags - United States Flags, State Flags, Military Service Flags; and all sizes of flag poles. The United States Flag 3'x 5' nylon is $25. The United States Flag 4"x 6" is .50 each or $5 a dozen The military services/branches flags are $30 each. We can get you any State Flag, different size flags and different size flag poles, including indoor sets. A Mansion in Mourning

The clocks are stopped at the hour of your death, the curtains are drawn and the mirrors draped in black...come explore the unusual mourning customs and creepy superstitions of the Victorian era at Oaklands Mansion. Guided tours of the mansion with our mourners are available from October 15 till 31, 2017, Tuesday - Saturday 10:00AM - 4:00PM and Sundays 1:00PM- 4:00 p.m., with the last tour beginning at 3pm. Scholar focuses on race, families in old West at MTSU Oct. 24
MURFREESBORO -- An acclaimed visiting scholar and author who's been focusing her studies on race and family history in the 19th-century American West will discuss her discoveries Tuesday, Oct. 24, in a free public lecture at MTSU.
Anne Hyde, a professor of history at the University of Oklahoma and MTSU's first Strickland Visiting Scholar in History for the 2017-18 academic year, will speak on "George's Letters and Louise's Land: Uncovering a 'Half-Breed' History of North America" Oct. 24 at 6 p.m. in the State Farm Lecture Hall in MTSU's Business and Aerospace Building, Room BAS S-102.
Hyde, who also serves as editor-in-chief of the Western History Association's "Western Historical Quarterly," specializes in the American West of the 1800s. Before joining the Oklahoma faculty, she spent two decades at Colorado College and chaired its Race and Ethnic Studies Program.
She's the author of several books, including "Empires, Nations, and Families: A New History of the North American West, 1800-1860," which earned the 2011 Bancroft Prize in American History and Diplomacy and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

Be a blood donor that could save a life. The next American Red Cross Blood Drive is November 16. 2017 at the Woodbury Lions Club Building. You can donate blood between the hours of 12 Noon to 6 P.M.. Lions Club members and community volunteers will assist Red Cross Personal.
