Cannon Co. beef happenings



Cannon County UT Extension and the Cannon County Cattlemen Association hosted a beef herd sires breeding soundness exams for beef producers in Cannon, Warren and Coffee counties.

The entire exam was performed at a cost of $40.00/bull. Bulls participating were dewormed, vaccinated and received a chelated trace element injection. Jennie Schutte, Territory Manager for Zoetis (formally known as Pfizer),provided deworm and vaccine, Dan Tracy DVM with MultiMinn USA provided the mineral supplement to bulls participating in the breeding soundness exam. Dan Tracy DVM also provided an opportunity to visually see the results of the specimen collected by Dr. Willis.

Dan Tracy DVM, DVM Mandy Hagan Willis with Middle Tennessee Vet Service conducted the exams of nineteen bulls representing 13 producers. The result of the exams illustrates the necessity of conducting a breeding soundness exam of your herd bull. The results revealed that 14 herd sires were satisfactory potential breeders, 2 unsatisfactory potential breeders, and 3 classification deferred.
