'GREASE' ON ARTS CENTER STAGE
The Arts Center of Cannon County is presenting "Grease" this month. Dust off your leather jackets; pull on your bobby-socks and take a trip back to 1959! Be there or be square.
Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding "T-Birds" and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical.
Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as "Greased Lightnin'", "It's Raining on Prom Night", "Sandy" recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. An 8-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals along with innumerable school and community productions place Grease among the world's most popular musicals.
Grease is directed and choreographed by Matthew Hayes Hunter with music direction by Brittany Goodwin. Megan Castleberry is assistant choreographer and dance captain. This production features Braden Wahl as Danny and Kait Kloss as Sandy. The cast also includes Daxton Patrick, Alexis Alduenda, Zach Kelley, Megan Castleberry, John House, Grace DeGuzman, Gabriel Matos, Alex Garrett, Cyndie Verbeten, Catherine Buford, Andrew Neal, Jessica Hunter, Tyler Adams, Sydney Sanford, Anna Hall, Megan Scott, Rachel Hortert, Anna Hall, Megan Scott, Rachel Hortert, Sharon Bessant, Slate Bowers, Jack Jones, Sarah Oppmann, Catalina Rice, Emma Wayne, and Erin Seifert.
Tickets are $15 with discounts available for students and seniors and can be purchased by calling (615) 563-2787 Tuesday through Saturday 10AM-4PM or online at artscenterofcc.com and (subject to availability) at the door one hour prior to show time. Grease is sponsored by First National Bank.

BREASTFEEDING: IT'S ONLY NATURAL
Expectant parents often find themselves faced with many decisions. Let your choice to breastfeed your newborn be a natural conclusion. Not only will your decision to breastfeed influence the long term and short term health of your baby, but it will provide benefits to mom as well. According to the Tennessee Department of Health, moms who breastfeed have a lower risk of developing breast and ovarian cancers, and their babies are less likely to develop numerous conditions from earaches to diabetes and obesity. "Any time before your baby is born is a good time to make the decision to breastfeed. To get breastfeeding off to a good start, the first to second hour after delivery is so important." said Meredith Mullican, Cannon County Nursing Supervisor and Certified Lactation Consultant. Have questions or concerns? Join us for a Prenatal Workshop scheduled Friday, July 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cannon County Health Department. Expecting your baby before August? Call the Cannon Health Department at 615-563-4243 and speak with our Certified Lactation Consultants. We are here to assist you and your family on this new journey.
