Burton To Serve Six Months For Resisting Arrest



Judge Susan Melton presided over Cannon County General Sessions Court on Tuesday.  Some of the results from the various cases which appeared on the docket included:

Eric Michael Burton pled guilty to the charge of resisting arrest.  He was sentenced to 6 months in the county jail and ordered to serve his entire sentence. Assault charges against Burton were dismissed without costs.

Jerry R. Rutledge was bound over to the January, 2010 term of the Cannon County Grand Jury.  He is charged with promotion of methamphetamine manufacture and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ashley D. Davidson was bound over to the January, 2010 term of the Cannon County Grand Jury.  He is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of cocaine.

Billy Ray Carmack pled guilty to the charge of public intoxication.  He was sentenced to 30 days in the county jail and ordered to serve his entire sentence.

John Edward Montrose pled guilty to the charge of assault.  He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail.  That sentence was partially suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, serving 40 days in jail, paying the court costs and staying away from the victim.  In another case, Montrose pled guilty to the charge of assault.  He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail.  That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation and paying the court costs.

Tammy Renee Southers pled guilty to the charge of simple possession of a schedule IV drug.  She was sentenced to 6 months in the county jail.  That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying a $750.00 fine and paying the court costs.

Bobby J. Cobb pled guilty to the charge of violation of probation.  His probation was extended and he was ordered to serve 60 days in jail.  In another case, Cobb pled guilty to the charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail.  That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying a $150.00 fine and paying the court costs.

Matthew Dewayne Griffith pled guilty to the charge of simple possession of marijuana.  He was sentenced to 11 months, 29 days in the county jail.  That sentence was suspended upon an equal amount of time on probation, paying the court costs and paying a $250.00 fine.

Other cases on Tuesday's docket were continued until a later date.
