A broken compactor at the Cannon County Convenience Center caused a slight delay in service this week. The problem has been addressed, according to Cannon County Executive Mike Gannon.

The Cannon County Convenience Center is open for business during normal hours, County Executive Mike Gannon said this morning.

Gannon said the convenience center has been open all week, even though there were concerns about trash piling up in front of the compactor.

The trash piles were removed Tuesday night, Gannon said.

The compactor, which is nearly 40 years old, has been experiencing electrical problems and was done due to repairs, Gannon said. In the meantime, trash was being placed directly into trailers by convenience center works and hauled to the landfill in Rutherford County.

Convenience center hours at 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The City of Woodbury continues to operate on its normal garbage collection schedule, Public Works Director Shane Gannon said. There was a slight delay on Tuesday when the problems arose at the convenience center, but Shane Gannon encouraged residents to continue to put out their garbage at the time they normally do.
