Borck is a Computer Systems Engineer at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, the father of fifteen children, part-time farmer, part-time preacher, and fulltime husband of fulltime homemaker and mother of their fifteen children, Lana Borck. Borck officially announced his candidacy in a video on FaceBook.com. In the announcement he states:
“So why would an average guy with a wife and fifteen kids run for State Senate? I’ll tell you why, because I want my children and grandchildren to live in a place where people are free to succeed and, yes, sometimes fail. I am afraid that our individual liberties are being destroyed in the name of ‘Peace’ and ‘Security’ and I can no longer sit by and let my vote alone be my voice.
“We need strong conservative Statesmen in office who understand that the answer to every question is not ‘Government’ and more laws. Our society is in decline and there is no amount of new laws that can change that. ‘We the people’ need to change, and that change begins in the homes, the churches, and the individuals.
“Government must return power to the people. That is hard for politicians to do when the government is the largest employer, the fastest growing employer, and one of the highest paying employers.
“Win or lose, I believe that my candidacy will give voters in this district another choice. I have a different perspective than those of my opponents and I would bring different strengths to the Senate. I am passionate about Christian values, such as honesty, fiscal responsibility, and social compassion. However, I will not sacrifice civility in the pursuit of power. I am a gentleman.
“So today as you consider if and how you will contribute to this campaign, I think the question you need to ask yourself is this: “When you near the end of your life’s journey here on earth, do you want to look at your spouse and say, ‘Honey, we left some good and healthy children for our government to control’ or do you want to be able to look at your spouse and say, ‘We left a good and healthy government for our children to control?’
