Funeral services for Bobby G. Gilley, age 74, of Manchester, will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at Manchester Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Visitation with the Gilley family will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, February 5 at the funeral home.

Mr. Gilley passed away Friday morning at Harton Regional Medical Center in Tullahoma after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mr. Gilley was born in Cannon County, TN, the son of the late Dan Palford and Betty French Gilley. He served his country with the United States Army. He began his life long career in the construction business in 1965, as co-owner of G & T Steel Erectors with two of his brothers-in-law, Jack Thomas and Claude Thomas.

He began his family construction businesses, Gilley Construction, Concrete Steel Erectors and Gilley Steel, Inc. These companies helped to erect buildings and bridges all over the southeastern United States.

Bob, along with his family, farmed many acres of land in Coffee County. He loved to fish, hunt, raise cattle, participate in tractor pulls, and was an avid golfer. He was active in the community, being involved in numerous charitable organizations, including the Sportsmen and Businessmen's Charitable Organization. He was a member of the TN Walking Horse Association and attended the Celebration regularly. Bob dearly loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by one daughter, Beti Luellen Gilley; and two brothers, Almet Palford Gilley and Jerry Randall Gilley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Vicki Thomas Gilley; one son, Robert French (Shonta) Gilley of Manchester; three daughters, Pamela Jean (Gene) Campbell, Bobbi Danyel (Chad) Hillis, and Kandy Annette (Ben) Shemwell, all of Manchester; two brothers, Lyle Max Gilley of Manchester and Gary Bruce (Melissa) Gilley of Lascassas; three sisters, Naoma Jean Reed (Bill) Goodman of Woodbury, Joy Fay Spain of Joelton, and Vivian Louise (Mike) Thomas of Wartrace; ten grandchildren, Thomas Lance Campbell, Victoria Nicole "Niki" Campbell, Keelie Shea Hillis, Olivia Danyel "Danni" Hillis, Benjamin Connor Shemwell, Jackson Oliver Shemwell, Robert French Gilley, II, Sydney Shirae Gilley, Paul "JR" (Misty) Campbell and Joshua Adam Campbell; two great grandchildren, Dylan and Macie; sister-in-law, Virginia (J.D.) Lewis; other brothers-in-law include Jack L. Thomas, Claude Thomas, James Thomas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Gilley Family Scholarship Fund in memory Bobby G. & Beti Gilley, c/o Peoples Bank & Trust, 1203 Hillsboro Blvd, Manchester, TN 37355.
