Blue Light Special: Man Charged With Criminal Impersonation

A local man faces charges of impersonating a police officer following an investigation by the Cannon County Sheriff's Department.

Ernest Shane Bogle, 208 South Dillon St., Woodbury, was charged with criminal impersonation and unlawful possession of blue lights on Jan. 22.

Sheriff's Detective Matt Goney conducted an investigation of an incident which occurred on Sep. 14, 2010 during which Bogle allegedly pretended to be an officer or employee of the government.

Bogle first stated he was employed with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and was working "undercover."

Bogle then stated he was employed with the Tennessee Office of Inspector General.

During the traffic stop, it was also discovered that Bogle had installed blue flashing emergency lights throughout his vehicle, a violation of T.C.A. 55-9-414.

Initial court date for Bogle is March 1.
