Billy J. Chumbley, 76, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at his home following an extended illness. A native of Cannon Co., Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Donald & Josie Neal Chumbley; Brother, Joe Don Chumbley and Son-in-law, John Tigert.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Sue Gilley Chumbley of Woodbury; 3 Daughters: Lorraine (Charles) Yancy of McMinnville, Karen Tigert and Ellen (Thomas) Mears both of Woodbury; 2 Granddaughters:Scarlett Yancy & Nicole Mears
Step Grandchildren: Candace & Kayla Mears and Trevor Yancy; Siblings: Jean (Jess) Ferrell of Woodbury and Rachel (Levine) Billings of McMinnville.
He was retired from General Electric and was a famer. He was a member of the Woodbury Church of Christ and served on the Board of Directors for Dekalb Telephone Cooperative for 15 years. Billy also loved to deer and coon hunt.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday, Nov. 14, 2014 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Gunter-Grizzle Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 3 - 8 pm Thursday, November 13, 2014 and 11 am until time of service Fri.
