Billy Doyle Haley, 83, passed away Saturday evening, July 2, 2016 at his home in Woodbury. A native of Cannon County, TN, he was the son of the late Marshall and Ida Prater Haley. Mr. Haley was also preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Doyle Haley, brothers, Medford, Cleborn, Bobby, and sisters, Grace Haley Wilcher, Thursie Haley Higgins, Zadie Haley Prater, Marie Haley Sullivan, and Zola Haley Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife of almost 32 years, Sharon Woodin Haley of Woodbury, Tn.; Children, Bruce (Ann) Haley of Eagleville and Chris (Carol) Haley of Woodbury; Stepdaughters, Faith (Mercouri) Kanatzidis of Wilmette, Illinois and Tina (Randy) Bowman of Woodbury; Grandchildren, Isaac and Lytton Haley, Callie, Isabel, and Emma Haley, Gregori, Alexander, and Evan Kanatzidis; Great-grandson, Curtis Buchanan.

Billy was a member of First United Methodist Church Woodbury and the US Army 101st Airborne Division where he served in Japan. He was retired from Alvin C. York Medical Center where he worked for 37 years. After retirement, he worked as the Activities Director for the Tennessee State Veterans Home for 7 years.

He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who found his greatest joy in his grandchildren. He enjoyed woodworking, square dancing, traveling, part-time farming, and going to his grandchildren's ballgames.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, July 6, 2016 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Woodbury Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 2:00pm at Woodbury Funeral Home with Rev. John Wesley Hembree officiating. Interment will follow at Leoni Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cannon County Senior Center or First United Methodist Church Woodbury.
